Product Description

This is our 16 inch Mid Length Gas, light contoured barrel that is Melonite/Nitride treated. Melonite has shown to last 30% longer than Chrome. Please see our FAQ section for more info on this. This barrel has a Wylde chamber which is more accurate, but can still shoot .223 or 5.56 ammo. Barrel extension is re-torqued to the barrel after treating, due to different expansion/contraction rates. This is the proper way to treat a barrel. Barrel is milspec 4150 steel, has M4 ramps and is threaded 1/2×28. Gas block is .750. Weight is 1lb 8oz and has 1:8 twist rate with 5R rifling. Comes with gas port drilled and gas block dimpled at the bottom for easy gas block alignment.

1.5-2.5 MOA multiple 5 shot groups with super cheap herters steel cased ammo. My DD 16″ hbar does the same group sizes for comparison. My standard AR does the groups 2.5-4″ with same ammo. I’m not sure if the 5R rifling is to account for this, but I am very pleased nonetheless. I am not looking for super tight groups as this is after all a lightweight barrel going on a rifle with just a red dot and iron sights.
Cycles steelcased fine with stock gi weight buffer. Much more accurate than anticipated. Have yet to custom load some ammo for this but I am pleased.
I just wish there was a 14″ option to save some weight for my lightweight rig.
After some reseach, this appears to be the exact same barrel offered on another site for less $$$.

Justin was great and helps run a great shop here.

Bought this a while back but didn’t finish the build until recently. Took it plinking a couple of times and it did great. Finally took it out to really test it out today and it started raining! In spite of shooting a constant drizzle, I was able to shoot several 3-shot groups at 75 yards from prone, with a bipod that were under 1/2″! I was shocked. I bought this barrel for a lightweight build and expected 1-2 MOA. Apparently it will do better than that! I also consistently hit clay pigeons at close to 300 yards. Considering that I was using a 3.5x ACOG, I’m truly impressed! (This was with Black Hills 77gr match ammo).
